Fav Newspaper
What is the name of your single favorite newspaper front page? Why?
Illawarra Mercury
Post an image of your favorite to your blog.
What city and state is the paper from?
Wollongong, Australia
What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it?
I like the choice of their picture on the front page.Their story also caught my attention about the man being arrested for a illegal collection.
How many stories are on the front page of your favorite?
One.
What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.
The headline is always out there. They also have a picture to catch the readers attention. Ads are also on the front to give the reader more of a reason to pick up the paper.

What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.
Many pictures are smaller others have more pictures than others. Depending on the news some have more stories in the front than others.

THE FASTEST GROWING BIG CITY IN AMERICA

TIMELINESS
This newspaper could have been written practically anytime given the right facts of the percentages and thoughts from first person of people moving into Austin. The only way this would be wrong is before Austin became the fastest growing city.
PROXIMITY
This has a good example because it effects not just small areas but the whole city of Austin with the city constantly growing.
IMPACT
This Impacts mostly everyone who lives in the city of Austin. When Austin begins to over crowd and jobs become filled by many, competition is war. This is proof from the article that Austin is increasing population. "The very latest data show the growth remains strong. From July 2012 to July 2013, the Austin area added an additional 47,941 residents — basically another San Marcos — and the 2.6 percent growth rate was the nation’s highest among metro areas with more than 1 million people." This is what a person said from their visit to Austin. "“I love that contrast,” said Cool, 30, who moved last month into an apartment along Oltorf Street. “We just fell in love with this place and decided to make the big move.”"Austin is becoming more and more beautiful and is hard to loose the attraction from the visitor around the world. Hopefully more and more homes are being built and new road to reduce traffic.
CONFLICT
The way the city is increasing will effect everyone in time. Looking for jobs will become a war. The traffic will worsen and inpatient humans can get angry. Accidents would hurt physically and some mentally.
HUMAN INTEREST
Not a lot of people would look into this but this can cause drama to us all like a infection sneaking up your body spreading more and more.
NOVELTY
People that have lived in Austin many years may see unusual number of humans in low and high rating places.

Cover
masthead is the main logo of the magazine.
dateline is when the magazine was created.
main image is a picture that gives the buyer his/hers attentions.
model credit gives the picture more taste with little words describing the model.
cover lines are extra words to give the picture more meaning without covering the main focus of the photo.
main cover line is like the promoter in big letters that catches the readers attention.
left third is not fully shown
The bar code are used by retailers to sell the magazine.
selling line is a short description of the title to set a plot
Roy Lichtenstein's drawing of, "The Gun In America," was the cover of the June 21, 1968 issue of TIME. Soon after the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, pop artist Lichtenstein aimed a smoking gun at readers to emphasize the urgency for gun legislation. Before the end of the year, Congress passed the Gun Control Act of 1968 that banned most interstate sales, licensed most gun dealers and barred felons, minors and the mentally ill from owning guns.

Fixed shoot
ISO: 100, Aperture: 7.1, Shutter speed: 1/60
What was the best ISO setting to use for your portraits?
1600 was the best ISO.
ISO: 400, Aperture: 10, Shutter speed: 1/125
ISO: 800, Aperture: 16, Shutter speed: 1/125
ISO: 1600, Aperture: 20, Shutter speed: 1/160
ISO: 3200, Aperture: 29, Shutter speed: 1/200
1600 was the best ISO.
What was your next best photo?
I had another ISO1600 picture but it was slightly blurry.
I had another ISO1600 picture but it was slightly blurry.
Were you able to create equivalent exposures to your best photo by changing the aperture and shutter speed?
I did create darker pictures of others but when i changed the settings they came out looking better. Sometimes would get lucky and not have to change it much.
What did you learn from this activity that you will apply to your real portrait shoot?

I got to have more practice choosing the aperture and shutter speeds. It think this would help me get the best picture faster.

2013 Pictures
The person who drew this is a genius. If the tree was not placed there this picture wouldn't have been great. The shading of the picture makes the man look a bit real. This was a best way to show art and nature.
This picture is unique. I have not seen this ever. Its amazing how the city in the glass is right side up when the picture was captured upside down. The background is blurry which gives it a better effect on the main focus.
This picture is one beautiful piece of nature. The water shines as it falls from upper levels. This picture captures the whole meaning to this park. The lighting of this picture couldn't have been better.
